Millbrae

Nestled in the hills that separate the Pacific Ocean from the San Francisco Bay.

Welcome to Millbrae

Nestled in the hills that separate the Pacific Ocean from the San Francisco Bay, the town of Millbrae covers just 3.2 square miles. Millbrae real estate caters to San Francisco’s wealthy families back in the day, who flocked to the town to enjoy its Mediterranean climate.

Mills Estate, a high-end residential neighborhood developed in the 1950s, features two hundred homes with spectacular Bay Area views. Six thousand of Millbrae’s residents call Mills Estate home. The homes – built between the 1950s and 1970s - offer three, four, or five bedrooms, and were designed specifically for individuals looking for space, luxury, and privacy. Mills Estate is a five-minute drive from the rest of Millbrae.

The town itself has a reputation for having some of the finest schools in the Bay Area. Mills High School is the highest-scoring secondary school – test-wise – in San Mateo County.

Millbrae real estate is great for outdoorsy-types, packing a punch recreationally, with 14 parks to choose from. Green Hills Park offers the most amenities, including a horseshoe pit and a bocce ball court. Millbrae’s Central Park hosts free movie nights during the summer, complete with bounce houses, face painting, and crafts. The Millbrae Recreation Department offers several classes for kids, adults, and seniors – take your pick from Zumba, Hatha Yoga and Meditation for Daily Life, just to name a few.

Golf enthusiasts take note: Millbrae homes for sale in Millbrae, CA,  are near the famous Green Hills Country Club, the work of Dr. Alister MacKenzie, the same architect behind Augusta National and Cypress Point.

Millbrae is also known for its annual Art & Wine Festival, the Bay Area’s biggest Labor Day event, boasting 100,000 attendees. If you can’t make it to Mardi Gras, the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival is the next best thing. Organizers transform Downtown Millbrae into its own Big Easy and offer live music (courtesy of well-known Beatles Tribute band The Sun Kings, among many others), a juried show with 250 professional artists and craftsmen, artisan specialty food, other fun foods – from corn on the cob to Philly Cheese Steaks to giant “badass” sausages – and premium wine.

The Art & Wine Festival also features the "Classically Cool Car Show”, showing vintage touring cars, custom hot rods and sleek sports cars. Take them in after hitting up the microbrew tasting tent and revel in the short drive you’d take home if you lived in Millbrae, the town of rolling hills.

Millbrae is conveniently located near San Francisco International Airport and is home to the tail-end of Bay Area Rapid Transit’s (BART) Peninsula extension. A small, yet vibrant downtown lends to the classic small-town USA ambiance for which Millbrae is acclaimed, yet easy access to San Francisco means that you’re never far away from a bustling city as well.
